St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa, in town to face the Washington Nationals, awarded a “real life hero,” Albert Pujols, with the hope award.
Pujols, first baseman for the Cardinals, has played in the MLB for 10 years. He earned the hope award for his commitment to faith, family and community, according to LaRussa.
Pujols founded the Pujols Family Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping the disabled and those impoverished in the Dominican Republic, Pujols’ native country.
